Rules and Terms – Híbrido 2022

1) ABOUT

 

1.1 - "Híbrido - Brazilian Videodance Festival" is a Gaspacho Filmes - Produções LTDA-ME realization with co-production of GOMA Collective, aiming to display, promote and award videodance productions. The initiative has as scope the participation of national and international works, also to foment research and thought around hybrid artistic creations between audiovisual, dance and music

 
 

2) EXECUTION

 

2.1 – The festival will occur from June 6 to June 17, 2022, entirely online through the event's official web site and social networks

 
 

3) DEFINITIONS

 

3.1 – For the purposes of this public call, it is understood that:

 

  • Proposer: is the individual who comes to register the work in this public call, subject to the conditions described in items 4 and 5 of this regulation, who assumes the legal responsibility for it.
     

  • Videodance: is a hybrid contemporary artistic language between audiovisual and dance. We do not intend here to establish a single, closed concept for the definition of the term. We will consider all videos that dialogue in an intertwined manner between the audiovisual gaze and body expression.
     

  • Professional artwork: is a video up to 5 minutes long, in horizontal format, including opening and/or closing credits (if any), made by an individual and/or professional crew, and edited in full HD quality or superior.
     

  • Experimental artwork: is a video that lasts up to 2 minutes, in horizontal format, including the opening and/or closing credits (if any), made by an individual and/or a team, with a cell phone or other digital means, and edited in any quality.
     

  • Reels: is a video with a duration of up to 30 seconds, in vertical format, made by an individual and/or a team, with a cell phone or other digital means, and edited in any quality.
    .

 

4) ATTENDANCE

4.1) Participation in this call will be open to videos sent by the authors themselves or those invited by the festival scouts. In both cases, the registration and submission of the work must occur within the conditions described in item 5.


4.2) By submitting your film, you accept this regulation in its entirety and agree that the selected works will be part of the fixed collection on the site, channels and social networks of Híbrido - Brazilian Videodance Festival, under the commitment of not being disclosed and/or used for commercial purposes.


4.3) Once your work is selected, Híbrido Festival producers will contact you via e-mail to inform about the dates and conditions of participation. The person responsible for the submission must respond in a timely manner. The festival’s production is not responsible if the e-mail address is incorrect or if the message goes to the Spam box.


4.4) All selected works may have excerpts, as well as photos and frames used to publicize the festival on television, print, and/or electronic media.

 
 
 
5) APPLICATION

5.1.  Applications are free of charge and should be made by filling out a form on the festival’s platform www.hibridofest.com.br or by registering on the platform www.filmfreeway.com. The convocation will be available from February 14 to March 31, 2022 (to be received until 6pm Brasilia time).
 

5.2.  The artwork must be sent via link from Vimeo, Google Drive, Youtube or upload on the Filmfreeway platform. To send the artwork through Vimeo, the link and password must be informed (if necessary); in the case of Youtube, the video must be configured as "unlisted" or "public"; and for Google Drive the file must have shared access to the e-mail festivalhibrido@gmail.com. For all options, the link of the artwork must be available until June 17, 2022.
 

5.3.  No further changes or additions will be allowed on both artwork or application form after it has been submitted.
 

5.4.  If there are two applications for the same project name, from the same proponent, the latest registration will be considered.
 

5.5.  Works completed from January 2019 or later will be accepted. Premiere status will not be required, but special attention will be given to films that have not yet been exhibited.
 

5.6.  The festival’s organization is not responsible for the failure in the application process due to problems in servers, access providers, data transmission, communication line, slowness of servers or any other reason, being the proponent responsible for the necessary acts in time.

6) CATEGORIES AND AWARDS


6.1.  The festival will have 3 (three) competitive exhibitions:
 

Official Exhibition: The best professional videos in full HD (H264 - 1920 x 1080), up to 5 minutes long, in horizontal format will be accepted. Artworks from all over the world, including Brazil, will be accepted.
 

Experimental Exhibition: all videos recorded through cell phones or any other digital means, with a duration of up to 2 minutes and in horizontal format will be accepted. Artworks from all over the world, including Brazil, will be accepted.
 

Reels Exhibition: all videos up to 1 minute long, in vertical format only. Artworks from all over the world, including Brazil, will be accepted.

6.2.  The festival curators may change the category in wich the video was submitted, if it is concluded that the material does not correspond to the technical level required for the category applied for.
 

6.3.  The selected artworks compete only in the Exhibition of the same category.
 

6.4.  The award winners will be announced on the site, on all social media profiles, and will receive the following prizes:
 

Official Exhibition: Cash prize of BRL 1,000.00 (one thousand reais) + nominal trophy and award certificate;
 

Experimental Exhibition: Cash prize of BRL 700.00 (seven hundred reais) + nominal trophy and award certificate;
 

Reels Exhibition: Cash prize of BRL 300,00 (three hundred reais) + nominal trophy and award certificate.
 

NOTE: The trophies will be sent via regular mail and the certificates via e-mail. The payment of the awards will be made via PIX for winners living in Brazil and via PayPal for winners from other countries.

 
7) JURY AND WINNERS SELECTION

 

7.1.  The Technical Jury will be composed by the festival curators. This Committee will evaluate the works considering: creativity, originality, quality, performance of the performer(s), music and diversity of styles.
 

7.2.  The Official Exhibition and the Reels Exhibition will be evaluated only by the vote of the Technical Jury.
 

7.3.  The Experimental Exhibition includes both Technical Jury and Popular Voting.
 
The Popular Vote will be based on public participation and will be held through the festival's Instagram.

 
8) ELIMINATION/DISQUALIFICATION CRITERIA

8.1.  Videos that do not fulfill the following requirements will be eliminated:
 

Exceed the duration indicated in the specific category;
 

Do not reach the quality of completeness requested in the specific category;
 

Applications with links to videos posted on social networks such as Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn;
 

Those which are not considered video dances (as described in item 3.1);
 

Using soundtracks or images that do not have the proper copyrights.

 

 

8.2.  The artworks submitted with a Google Drive link that do not provide previous access will be automatically disqualified.
 
NOTE: ​ Only videos recorded on vertical format will be accepted in the Reels category.

 

9) RESULTS

9.1.  The awards for the Official Exhibition, the Experimental Exhibition, and the Reels Exhibition will be announced at the end of the festival

 

 

 

10) GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

10.1.  The application of the artwork implies full acceptance and full agreement, by the participants, of all the terms and rules contained in the present regulation.
